The seat of the Crown of Quillet: a square white keep on the hill above Summerhythe, with a hall, a chapel for the Guard, the Chancellery, and a north tower that carries the great crossbow on a turntable. The marigold banners on its walls are repainted every spring and faded by every autumn.
Points of interest
- Queen Hesper’s hall. Where Queen Hesper named the Wardens of the Lease on the evening of the fair.
- The north tower. The great crossbow, a lookout’s bench, and the best view of the Tally Cliffs in the vale. Beatrix Holloway was on watch here when the dragon came.
- The Chancellery. Wystan Pye’s offices, and the only warm fire in the Keep.
- The muniment room. Where the Crown’s charters were kept until the High Water of Lease Year 161 flooded it. The Crown’s copy of the lease has been kept at Sealwright Hall ever since.
- The west gate. The Keep’s quiet way out. Emlyn Crewe left by it on the evening of day 6.
Notable people
