Fair Terms
Damage1d8 slashing (versatile 1d10)
Weight3 lb.
Costpriceless as a relic; about 400 crowns to a collector
Current Holder: Beatrix Holloway
Origin: Maudry's Barrow
The Founder’s sword: a plain longsword with a steel hilt wrapped in green leather and a single marigold engraved at the base of the blade. It is shorter than the statue in the square suggests. Queen Maudry carried it to the signing on the Tally Cliffs and, according to the lease itself, never drew it there.
Properties
- A longsword of old, plain steel that has never needed sharpening.
- Once per long rest, the wielder can speak its name and cast zone of truth (save DC 13) centred on the blade.
- Its edge will not bite a creature that the wielder has given their word not to harm. It gives no warning. It simply turns in the hand, and the attack misses.
History
The Founder’s household called it Fair Terms because she named it herself, the day she came down from the cliffs with a lease in place of a victory. It lay on her breast in Maudry’s Barrow for 256 years. Beatrix Holloway took it on day 6, after asking the Founder’s permission aloud, and has carried it since.
